This emblematic square, surrounded by palm trees, is located in the center of the town and is a mandatory stop for all tourists being one of their favorite places when they know it. During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it was intended for the celebration of different bullfighting festivities and today, other types of events are held such as the events in the Evening in Honor of the Patroness La Virgen de la Oliva, as well as the most important events of the municipality. In the surroundings of the square we also find numerous restaurants to enjoy the tasty cuisine of the area where the fresh fish and seafood of its coastline, the fried “pescaito” stand out – of course -, the meat of retinto, the loin in lard or his Andalusian cuisine.

The wall of Vejer
The Vejer border is completely walled. The medieval wall, very well preserved, is built in the fifteenth century and was part of the defensive system of the city after a Muslim attack to reconquer the town.

The wall has more than 3 hectares and to this day you can see the 4 doors or arches of the wall in perfect condition – Arco de la Villa, Arco de Sancho IV, Arco de La Segur and Arco de la Puerta Cerrada – as well as its 3 towers that flank it – Torre de la Corredera, Torre del Mayorazgo and Torre de San Juán – The radius of the wall is 2 kilometers and has an approximate width throughout its length of almost two meters, increasing this thickness as you approach the doors . The layout of the walled enclosure is not regular and has slopes due to the terrain but is very well reinforced
