The old town, known as Dalt Vila, is located on the Puig de Vila hill, and is surrounded by the imposing UNESCO World Heritage Site walls, some of the best preserved walls and bastions in the world, with traces from several civilizations. There are five access gates to Dalt Vila, being the Portal de Ses Taules the main one, next to the Mercat Vell (old market).
