Tour 1 Option: Best of Seville Walking Tour (Spanish, English Mon-Sun 10:30am 4pm):

They say that Seville has a special colour, but do you know why? The sunlight bounces off the dazzling white washed walls, plays over the patterns of the yellow and blue ceramic tiles adorning cool patios where bright red geraniums vie with the bitter oranges, the ochres of the earth, the terracotta roofs…

But Seville is not only a picture painted in vivid colours, it is an open book steeped in history and this is what makes it one of the most visited cities in Spain. The capital of Andalusia is a place where many different civilizations have left their mark throughout history. The people of Seville of today are passionate about their city and millions of tourists fall in love with it day after day.

In our Monuments of Seville Free Tour, we will walk the length and breadth of the historic center of the Andalusian capital and discover that it owes its origin to none other than the legendary Hercules. Enjoy the breathtaking views afforded by one of the best-known places in the city: the Cathedral and the Giralda bell tower crowned by the Giraldillo weather vane. We will take you back in time, to Seville’s beginnings, uncovering its history through the traces of the different peoples that settled here, whether Romans, Tartessians, Visigoths or Arabs.

We’ll slow the pace for a relaxing walk along the banks of the river Guadalquivir, until we reach the Torre del Oro or Tower of Gold, and finish up in the grandiose Plaza de España, built for the Latin American Exhibition of 1929.

What was the relationship between all the different civilizations that were at one time in Sevilla? Who founded this city? Why do the letters NO8DO appear in the emblem of Sevilla? What was the Plaza de España built for? You can learn the answers to these questions and many more on our Monuments of Seville. Two and a half hours will whizz by discovering the most important sights of the city.

The well-known Spanish poet and writer, Antonio Gala, once said: “The bad thing is not that the Sevillians think that they live in the most beautiful city in the world but that they might even be right”. Join us and find out for yourselves whether the Sevillians are right and whether Seville really does have a special colour.
