Stop At: Biarritz, Biarritz, Basque Country, Pyrenees-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
It’s a good half-hour drive from San Sebastián to the centre of Biarritz. This royal city has a fantastic market and Les Halles is our first stop to check out the fresh fish, cheese, bread, meats and veggies. We’ll stop for cafe & pastries, OR oysters & wine, before wandering out into the city for some exploring. The coastline, coves and beaches of Biarritz are a must see as are the many shops, patisseries and bars.

We’ll drive down from Biarritz to Saint Jean de Luz–an old Basque whaling town famous for inventing the macaroon pastry! We’ll pop into the fascinating church for a quick look before heading to lunch for stellar French-Basque cuisine. Following that it’s off to explore the winding streets of this adorable village, full of curious architecture, flowers & tasty delights! The coastline is also worthy of a walk–it’s one of the most picturesque in all of the Basque Country!
