What makes Tour around the Central Market of Malaga a unique experience ?
From Plaza Enrique García Herrera, we begin our search for the essence of Malaga with views of the Guadalmedina River and the Puente de los Alemanes, as well as churches and brotherhoods linked to the tradition and fervor of Holy Week in Malaga such as the Church of Santo Domingo . Likewise, we will pass by the Unicaja Museum of Popular Arts and Customs, whose history dates back to the sixties, conceived as a unique space to learn about the archaeological and ethnographic past of the city.
Walking along C/ Compañía and its surroundings we will discover businesses and artistic expressions of great personality, hidden among streets of Muslim tradition such as this original bookstore where our imagination can fly; and, those typical of religious and/or customs imagery, with beautiful displays of fans, wicker crafts or flamenco dresses among others. Furthermore, we will see how the avant-garde is harmoniously inserted into these spaces of ancient history, resulting in unique results, as is the case of the façade of the Thyssen Museum in Malaga.
Located in the historic center of the city, this neo-Gothic church was built in 1920 according to a project by architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan. Its plan is basilica and is divided into three naves.
Our accredited guide will tell you, among other traditional aspects of Malaga life, the history of this emblematic square whose name has changed according to the political and social vicissitudes of Spain; unique spaces such as the Fountain of the Three Graces; the mythical, and now disappeared, Café Central and the wide variety of coffees in Malaga, where a cloud is more than a condensation of water drops in the sky; majestic views of the Cathedral and its features; notes on the arteries of the square, center of the artistic, cultural and leisure life of Malaga, such as Plaza Uncibay or C/ Granada with special reference to the importance of Picasso in the city or its recreational places, such as Pimpi or The Bell; etc.
From the entrance we will enjoy the eternal PASAJE DE CHINITAS, recognized throughout the world for being a very special place for more than a century for FLAMENCO, singing and dancing artists, who developed their “duende” in bars and taverns along the passage.
Main street of the city built between 1887 and 1891, nerve center and historical center where the best of the commercial, artistic and entertainment life of the city takes place: Casa Mira, century-old pharmacies where master formulas are still served or views of the old entrance to the sea, among others.
From one of the most emblematic squares in Malaga we will learn about the wonderful façade of the old ALMACENES DE FÉLIX SÁENZ, a symbol of the cultural and economic life of the city, in addition to its history and its renovation process. We will also experience first-hand the square as a meeting place for Malaga residents during their shopping and moments of leisure and dining. And finally, we will discover sculptures and magical corners not visible to the unattended eye.
This building located on Sagasta Street No. 5, on the corner of Herrería del Rey Street, was built in 1925. It is a narrow house that fits into a corner forming a kind of keel.
