What makes Madrid Old Town Tapas and Wine Small Group Tour a unique experience ?
In the 12th century Madrid was just a village. Our adventure will start at its main square, where the old City Hall is: Plaza de la Villa.
The whole tour takes place in La Latina. Madrid oldest and most atmospheric neighborhood.
Bar 1: Iconic establisment founded in 1966. We will taste:
VERMUT DE GRIFO (white wine flavored with botanicals such as: wormwood, vanilla, ginger, licorice, cinnamon, lemon balm. It has been the aperitif of Madrid for over a century. It comes on tap and it is served on the rocks)
BATTERED COD (It is their specialty and I´ve been eating it for 25 years. Funny thing is that I don’t like fish but….)
Bar 2: This one I want to keep as secret as possible. I can only say that they have my favorite white wine and the finest tapas in the area.
Bar 3: Tucked away in a pedestrian area only locals know. Highest rated restaurant in the area. We will have: IBERICO TENDERLOIN (If there is one food you MUST taste in Spain that is Iberico pork. We will have the tenderloin marinated with bay, garlic and paprika. The pork comes from the butcher’s that supply Diverxo, only three Michelin starred restaurant in Madrid)
SPANISH RED WINES (I will open wines from my own cellar)
We will finish the night with Pedro Ximenez, one of the sweetest, most gloriously hedonistic dessert wines in the world. We will pour it over vanilla ice-cream, which is, one of the top 5 food&wine pairings of Spain.
