What makes Full Private Tour of Gran Canaria with Natural Pools a unique experience ?
We will make a photo stop at the “Molino de Viento”. It is a windmill, located a few kilometers from Mogan. Oral tradition has it that it was a shepherd from La Aldea who set it on fire in retaliation against the municipal power. From then on it was known as Moulin Brûlé. It was restored in 1998. Its 7 meter tower makes it the largest windmill in Gran Canaria.
We will stop to admire the “Azulejos de Veneguera”, a natural monument formed by a complex process of solidification of the fluids expelled by the Tejeda volcano and which the erosion of thousands of years has left exposed. A mountain as if we colored it with brushstrokes. Erosion revealed a series of geological layers, minerals tinted with reddish, ocher, green and blue tones. Locals gave the name “Los Azulejos de Veneguera” because of their resemblance to the brightly colored tiled walls of San Nicolas de Tolentino.
In Puerto de la Aldea we will find the only easily accessible beach on this entire coast. We will walk around the port then head towards “El Charco”. It is a small natural lake located on the beach of La Aldea, made up of sea water. The festivities of El Charco, in the village of San Nicolás, are one of the most famous and popular events in Canary Islands. Every September 11, in the town’s “lake”, hundreds of people gather to fish with their own hands for the fish that live in this coastal lagoon. This festival is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest and is based on a pre-Hispanic tradition.
After a long drive along the rocky abysses with a stop to take photos of the wild coast, we will arrive at our next stop “The Puerto de Las Nieves”.
Agaete has some of the most popular natural pools and beaches in the northern part of the island. We will walk along its picturesque maritime promenade and stop at the natural pools. Don’t forget your swimsuit if you want to swim in these pools! A unique and unforgettable experience!
After swimming, we will walk towards the port of Agaete “Puerto de las Nieves”, a small fishing port with its many fish restaurants by the sea. This will be the ideal stop for a well-deserved lunch break in a typical Canarian restaurant mainly offering locally caught fish. (Meals not included in the price of the excursion). After the meal, we will walk in the port with its white and blue houses at the foot of the pebble beach. We will take the opportunity to see what remains of the famous “Dedo de Dios”, the emblematic rock of the port. It is a monolith rising from the ocean which had the shape of a hand and a finger pointing towards the sky. Following a storm in the fall of 2005, the finger collapsed. All that remains today is the hand. It will then be time to take the road to Arucas.
We will now leave the main road towards Arucas. Here the landscape is very green and there are banana plantations and typical “Fincas” everywhere. In this region, agriculture plays a main role. In Arucas we will visit (exterior) the Cathedral “Iglesia de San Juan”. This enormous church with four towers was built in black basalt.
