The sweetest Girona

Girona Trip Overview

If you like the sweet treat, this is your experience!

We taste the 3 local sweets from Girona:
– xuixo
– chocolate flies
– ice cream (Brothers Roca)

We combine the guided tour of the old town with the curiosities of the city and we know the history behind each sweet treat.

The visit begins at Plaza Independencia, then we cross the Onyar River and walk through the narrow streets of the historic center.

When we found the figures of the flies, we stopped and told the legend of Saint Narciss – the patron saint of Girona – and we taste the delicious chocolate flies 🙂

We continue to the village to get to know the oil square and the chestnut square. And here we talk about the xuixo, the most well-known gironinian sweet. It’s a fried butter bun filled with cream. And we reveal the legend of Tarlà, which has a lot to do with the origin of the Xuixo!

The visit continues along the Rambla, the pedestrian area with stone arches, trees and terraces.

We crossed the Eiffel Bridge and arrived at Rocambolesc, a prestigious ice cream shop in charge of Jordi Roca, brother of the Celler de Can Roca. We have an ice cream here. You can choose the one you like best! If it’s cold, don’t worry: they have a hot bread with ice cream inside that’s delicious 🙂

Discover Girona and taste its richest sweets.
