Feel the breeze as you tootle up and down the hills and valleys, with mountain views and beautiful monuments. Get close to our local area in a relaxed and easy way, stopping off when you want to stretch your legs and take a photo.
You will enjoy beautiful scenery and be able to immerse yourself in a typically Basque atmosphere, in the beautiful square of the Basilica lined by lovely old trees, bars and the pelota court, and go past historic mansions on the way up to the necropolis with its views over the valley.
Rober will meet you from the train at Durango station, on the Euskotren line between Bilbao and San Sebastián. You are welcome to combine various routes to make a longer tour with a stop for lunch at a local restaurant and pick up in the afternoon – please see ‘Discover the Duranguesado’ for a combined tour of various pretty routes around the Durango area.

Stop At: Elorrio, Elorrio, Province of Vizcaya, Basque Country
Fun tour for two visiting the beautiful historic Old Town of Elorrio with its noble mansions and beautiful monuments. Pick up and drop off from Durango station or Eguzki B&B, Durango. Tootle along from Durango to the entrance to the olvia the 15th gateway with its stone coat of arms and arch, and continue along to the square.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Sortzez Garbiaren eliza, Gernikako Arbola Plaza, 1, 48230 Elorrio, Bizkaia, Spain
Continue through the old town past historic mansions and stone arches into the beautiful main square, surrounded by bars and cafés and the pelota court. You will have time to admire the magnificent Basílica de la Purísima Concepción, the largest temple in the province of Biscay, with a wonderful Baroque altarpiece.

Pass By: Necropolis de Argineta, Barrio Zenita Junto Al a Ermita de San Adrian, Elorrio Spain
Continue through the old town with optional stroll up the pedestrianised area past splendid mansions and gardens, also several of the Renaissance period wayside crosses. You will then head up the hill to the magical 7th century necropolis of Argiñeta, with great views over the hills between its tombstones and carved sarcophagus. After a stop here to admire the view you will head back down the hill to visit the typical rural neighbourhood of Zenita, with its ancient farmhouses with family coats-of-arms, a watermill and raised grain-store.
