Start your day by visiting the Benedictine Monastery and discover its amazing history. Montserrat literally means “sawed mountain” in Catalan, and it is called this due to its multi-peaked rocky range. This is the holly mountain of the Catalans and home of the “Black Madonna” a XIV century romanesque sculpture of the Virgin Mary, patron saintness of the Catalans.
