Stop At: Barcelona, Barcelona, Catalonia

ITINERARY:

Start: 8:30 a.m.
After about an hour and a half of pleasant trip by van with air conditioning, we will arrive at the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa.
We will prepare and start walking through the Fageda d’en Jordà, a unique beech forest for growing at low altitude (550 m) above the lava flow emitted by the Croscat volcano. This is a magical place full of peace and if you visit it in autumn you will have the opportunity to see the spectacle of the colors of nature.
Leaving La Fageda, the path will take us to the volcanic zone, starting with the volcano of Santa Margarida, a volcano whose explosion opened a large circular crater in the center of which is the Romanesque church of the same name. We will continue our journey in front of the Croscat volcano, which with its 160 m height make it the highest volcanic cone of the Iberian Peninsula.
For many years, one of its flanks was a quarry and today remains an impressive scar as a reminder of the quarry once active.
After about 3.5 hours pleasant walk we will arrive again to the starting point and we will go directly to our traditional restaurant specially selected to enjoy a deserved typical food of the area.
Before returning to Barcelona we went to Besalú, one of the best preserved medieval towns in Catalonia, where you will feel like traveling back in time. There we will enjoy a guided tour through its magical streets and we will have a little free time.
End: 6:00 p.m.

Duration: 8 hours
