What makes Barcelona Tour And Photoshoot in Gothic Quarter a unique experience ?
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, also known as Barcelona Cathedral, is the seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. T
Check out the decidedly modern addition just next to the ancient Barcelona Cathedral. These 20th century sculptures were created with letters from the artistic alphabet of Joan Brossa in 1992. The six bronze and one aluminum pieces spell out Barcino, which was the name of the city before it became Barcelona.
Plaça del Rei, or Plaza of the King, is a serene Medieval square in the heart of el Gotico. Ensconced by The Palau Reial Major, or Major Royal Palace, it’s easy to imagine the counts of Barcelona and kings of Aragon (and perhaps Christopher Columbus?) carrying out their duties under the watchful eye of a majestic 15th century tower.
These staggering columns from the 1st Century BC are impressive in both stature and history. Residing in a quiet courtyard in the Jewish Quarter, the four monoliths were uncovered entirely by accident in the 19th century. Standing nine meters (nearly 30 feet) tall, the four columns were part of a much larger temple, dedicated to the worship of Emperor Augustus.
The age of this gorgeous arch-bridge may surprise you, and it’s hidden-secrets might give you a bit of a spook! While the style is ornately gothic, it was actually built in 1928 by architect Joan Rubio, who was a friend and disciple of Antoni Gaudi. But how did this small strip of architectural art come to be? Come with me to learn!
We will go through the Jewish Quarter and see the oldest synagogue in Spain, which is also one of the oldest in all of Europe. Learn about the contributions the Jewish community made before their “expulsion” and what happened after.
Flanked by the Barcelona City Hall and the Palace of the Provincial Government of Catalunya, Plaza Sant Jaume is the administrative center of the city and region! Once the site of the Church of Sant Jaume, the bustling square is also home to cafes, chocolate shops and all other sorts of retail. A great place to part ways!
