Trip to the Raval district would be incomplete without a visit to the MACBA: Barcelona’s contemporary art museum. The museum has three main galleries, which can be subdivided, as well as five smaller galleries, one of which is in a tower. MACBA is also known for the skateboarders outside the museum. Biblioteca de Catalunya (the National Library of Catalunya) is situated in Jardins de Rubió i Lluch. Both the outside and the inside takes your breath away. The Biblioteca de Catalunya has its main headquarters in a Gothic building of great historical interest: the old Hospital de la Santa Creu. The Joan Maragall Archive, the poet of the “living word”‘s residence, also forms part of the Biblioteca de Catalunya.
