You will see one of the very remaining parts from the medieval walls which were built back in the IX century when Baeza was founded by the muslims and known as Aliatares Tower. Restored in the end of XIX century it is used today as the city’s official clock tower.

Pass By: Baeza, Baeza, Province of Jaen, Andalucia

You will visit the old barbican, a place where you will be able to see the most important strategical access point to the inner walls of the ancient village of Baeza. Appart from all that you will have the chance to see the remaining parts of an old Posito from the beginning of the XVI century, which today, unfortunately, lays as an apartment building

At the Old University of Baeza, you will discover the third most ancient University in the history of Andalusia, an institution that gained absolute prestige and honor by joining forces with the University of Salamanca during the XVII century. After its official closing in the XIX century it became a brand new educational institution where some of the most prominent personalities of the XX century came to work such as the poet Antonio Machado.

In here, you will be delighted with the most southern sample of the roman architectonical style. Nowadays, it is considered as a true architectonical jewel because is the only and whole remaining piece of roman style not only here in Baeza but in the entire region of Andalousia.

At Santa Cruz square you will have the chance to delight yourself with one of the most impressive facades you’ve ever seen: Palace of Jabalquinto provides you a beautiful view of one of the best and most amazing samples of flamboyant gothic from the late XV century years, whose owners were the Benavides,a flourishing noble family who was in a constant battle against the Carvajales in order to gain power and notoriety in Baeza.

You will have the chance to see the spectacular old downtown of Baeza composed by its 4 splendid landmarks: Old High Council Houses, The Seminary, the beautiful fountain of Santa María and last but not least, the most ancient Cathedral in Andalusia: The Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad.

Apart from seeing all the different outdoor delights, you will roam around one of the most charming parts of the Baeza Old Town: The Cathedral Alleys. Feel yourself just for few minutes like a medieval character walking throughout those alleys leading to the breathtaking views that await for you right at the lookout spot.

At this magnificent spot, you will absolutely amazed by the wonderful view that this lookout spot provides you over the Guadalquivir Valley where the largest river of Andalusia makes its way across through the true Olive Tree Sea, authentic identity mark of this province, main olive oil producer all around the globe.

At this square, you will be absolutely surrounded by one of the most delightful and charming places all over Baeza. From the Fountain of the Lions until the Jaen Gate passing through the Old Butchery and the Audience House and the Clerkship, visitors will receive a complete historical lesson that takes from the IV century BC until the flourishing XVI century, where Baeza meets with its most shiny historical period.
